Knoll Design Story

The idea behind the Knoll was to create a compact backpack that was just the right size and had the right amount of pockets to carry the stuff you might need on a daily basis. Our design objective was to eliminate any extra bulk, but still allow you to be able to keep things organized. We wanted to be able to carry a 15" laptop, charger, magazines, tablet, and have spare pockets for all our small objects. And most important, the backpack had to have a clean, simple design without too many bells and whistles on the outside.

We played around with the overall design until we settled on 450mm tall bullet shape. This allowed us to fit a 15" laptop while eliminating unwanted volume. We also came up with a dual-access sleeve which combines an external zip and an internal sleeve with Fidlock¨ magnetic snap buckles. The outside zip is perfect for daily use and the internal access comes in handy when using the pack in tight spaces. The padded laptop sleeve also doubles as an organizer panel with multiple pockets for tablets, wallet, and pens and a heavy duty mesh pocket.

On the front of the bag we have added multiple heavy duty mesh pockets for small objects and a large pocket with a Fidlock¨ magnetic hook for chargers, cameras and other bulky things. On the outside there is a hidden pocket with a key hook so you don't have to fumble around for your keys.
